VirtualEye Fun Lifestyle Rewards (Pty) Ltd (“VirtualEye”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the VirtualEye Rewards mobile application (“the App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable data protection legislation.
By creating an account or using the App, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal information as described in this policy.

3.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you create an account and use the App, we may collect:

- Authentication data: Sign-in credentials, including data from third-party authentication providers (Apple ID, Google)
- Marketing preferences: Your consent choices for receiving promotional communications
3.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we may automatically collect:
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and app version
- Usage data: Features accessed, time spent in the App, interactions with offers and partner content
- Push notification tokens: To deliver notifications you have opted in to receive

We may receive information from:
- Authentication providers: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (or a private relay email in the case of Apple). We do not receive your password from these providers.
- Partner businesses: When you redeem offers or interact with partner services through the App, partners may share redemption confirmation data with us.
4. How We Use Your Information
We process your personal information for the following purposes, each with a lawful basis under POPIA:
4.1 To Provide Our Services (Contractual Necessity)
- Creating and managing your account
- Displaying personalised deals, offers, and rewards from partner businesses
- Processing offer redemptions and tracking your rewards points
- Facilitating interactions with partner businesses
4.2 To Communicate With You (Contractual Necessity / Legitimate Interest)
- Sending transactional emails (account verification, password resets, data request confirmations)
- Delivering push notifications about new offers and rewards (where you have enabled notifications)
- Responding to your support requests
4.3 To Improve Our Services (Legitimate Interest)
- Analysing usage patterns to improve app features and user experience
- Identifying and fixing technical issues
- Understanding which partner offers are most popular
4.4 Marketing (Consent)
- Sending promotional communications about new partners, special offers, and platform updates
- You may withdraw your marketing consent at any time via the “Marketing Communications” toggle in your Profile settings, or by contacting us directly.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Partner businesses: When you redeem an offer, the relevant partner may receive your membership ID and redemption details necessary to fulfil the offer. Partners do not receive your full profile information.
- Service providers: We use third-party service providers for email delivery (transactional emails), hosting infrastructure, and push notifications. These providers process data solely on our behalf and under strict contractual obligations.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of VirtualEye, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
6. Data Storage and Security
- Your personal information is stored on secure servers hosted in controlled environments.
- Passwords are stored using industry-standard cryptographic hashing and are never stored in plain text.
- Authentication tokens (JWTs) are used for session management with automatic expiration and refresh mechanisms.
- We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
- Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and as necessary to provide our services to you.
- Active accounts: Your profile and usage data are retained while your account remains active.
- Deactivated accounts: If you choose to deactivate your account, your data is retained for 30 days to allow for reactivation, after which it is permanently deleted.
- Permanently deleted accounts: If you choose permanent deletion, your data is erased immediately and cannot be recovered.
- Legal obligations: Certain records may be retained for longer periods where required by law (e.g., financial transaction records).
8. Your Rights Under POPIA
As a data subject under the Protection of Personal Information Act, you have the following rights:
8.1 Right to Access
You may request a copy of all personal information we hold about you. You can initiate this request via the “Request My Data” option in your Profile settings, or by emailing az.oc.eyelautrivobfsctd-40bacf@troppus. We will respond within 30 days.
8.2 Right to Correction
You may request that we correct or update inaccurate personal information. You can update most information directly in the App via “Edit Profile”.
8.3 Right to Deletion
You may request the deletion of your personal information. The App provides two options:
- Account deactivation: Temporarily disables your account with a 30-day data retention window.
- Permanent deletion: Immediately and irreversibly deletes your account and all associated data.
Both options are accessible via your Profile settings in the App.
8.4 Right to Object
You may object to the processing of your personal information for direct marketing purposes at any time by disabling the “Marketing Communications” toggle in your Profile settings.
8.5 Right to Lodge a Complaint
If you believe your personal information has been processed in violation of POPIA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator:

9. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The App may contain links to partner websites and third-party services. This Privacy Policy applies only to the VirtualEye App. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of partner businesses or third-party websites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through the App.
11. Push Notifications
You may opt in to receive push notifications about new offers, rewards updates, and other App-related information. You can manage your notification preferences at any time through your device settings or the App’s Profile settings.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App (via our in-app consent screen) and update the “Last updated” date above.
Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. If a material change requires renewed consent under POPIA, we will request your explicit consent before continuing to process your information.
